Product Overview

DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) first isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits during electrical stimulation of the intralaminar thalamic area by Monnier et al. in 1977. As its name indicates, the peptide was characterized by its ability to induce delta (slow-wave) sleep when infused into recipient rabbits. DSIP is one of the few peptides demonstrating robust pharmacological effects at nanomolar concentrations in the CNS, with receptor-level mechanisms still under investigation. Beyond sleep induction, DSIP research has expanded to stress regulation, neuroendocrine modulation, antioxidant activity, and adaptogenic properties — making it a uniquely multifunctional neuropeptide.
